Ed Sheeran’s Divide hits over 1 billion YouTube views days after album launches

Ed Sheeran’s new album ➗ (Divide) has reached over 1 billion views on YouTube.

Beginning with the release of his lyric videos for "Castle on a Hill" and "Shape of You" during the start of the year, through to the most recent upload of 14 new videos last Friday (March 3) to celebrate the album’s release, fans have flocked to YouTube to listen to the star's new music.

Sheeran has seen massive growth on YouTube in recent weeks. During the last two months, his channel has gained over 3 million subscribers, the most of any channel this year.

Lyor Cohen, Global Head of Music said:

Ed Sheeran’s success is also translating to YouTube’s music charts, with him currently occupying six spots out of the Top 100 Videos for the week ending February 23rd.
