Emeli Sandé may be hugely successful, but the star admits that she did consider quitting the music industry altogether at one point.

Sandé, who was raised in Alford, Aberdeenshire, became a household name with her debut album, 'Our Version Of Events,' in 2012. The album was certified Gold by the BPI in December of 2016 after shifting over 100,000 copies since its release.

Yet despite this, she admits some people's response to her success left her feeling like she should change careers. She said:

"It hurt, and I didn’t know what to do. I was like, 'Should I stop? Should I continue? Should I just go away?' I considered it now and again, but I was never serious.

"I knew I’d never break away from music.

"It’s very hard to get the balance right, and I never want to force anything on anyone. But I was also very proud of what I was representing, as when I was a kid I didn’t see many women who looked like me on TV."

However, the 30-year-old singer ultimately decided to continue on her journey in the music industry, despite people's opinions. She told The Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine:

"I needed to build my confidence up. I came into the industry with lots of it, because I didn’t know any different. Then you (come to) London and (join) the industry and you’re like, ‘Am I doing it right?’ The singer-songwriter also said:

“Every day you learn, and sometimes you forget that. It’s OK to make mistakes, change, build yourself up and grow”.

The star released her second studio album 'Long Live the Angels' last year on November 11. Speaking about it, she said:

"I called the album Long Live The Angels and for me the whole kind of concept was, is a heavy dark time and I feel that truth and love and honesty, it’s kind of not encouraged anymore, it’s under attack if anything and fear is just like paramount at the moment, so the whole message of the album for me is just, you just gotta tell the truth you know, you don’t have to be ladylike about it, but tell the truth and stand up for what you believe in because it needs standing up for, you know we can’t be passive anymore."
