Jessie J unveils new "R.O.S.E" EP and bares soul about music industry struggle

Jessie J has announced a new four-track EP called "R.O.S.E" - the follow-up to 2014’s "Sweet Talker".

The celebrated UK singer-songwriter took to Instagram last night (Sept 12) to unveil the mini-album, which is named after her mother, as well as being an acronym for Realisations, Obsessions, Sex and Empowerment.

In the videos uploaded onto Instagram, Jessie J says: "My mother is called Rose, she gave me the gift of life. A rose is at its most beautiful when budding. I rose above the pain.

"We give roses or a single rose as a gift with so many different feelings. This is my gift to you.

“For each letter there is a word and for each word there’s a song I will share with you.”

The songstress also bares her soul in the videos about her struggles within the music industry whilst walking through a meadow and says:

“I didn't want to make music anymore.

"I said that out loud. Wow. Then I tried to stop and I didn’t know how to because it’s impossible to walk away from true love. Art, emotion, lyrics, music... is what I need to survive.

“I don’t do this because I want to do it, I do it because I have to.

"I feel everything so deeply. It's a blessing and a curse and I lost my passion to create. To draw a line between business and art. I’d fallen into darkness and allowed myself to be led by fear. The fear was keeping other people happy who didn’t ever care."

On her upcoming record, the "Bang Bang" hitmaker has teamed up with the producer DJ Camper - who has also worked with the likes of John Legend and Tamara Braxton.

The announcement follows “Real Deal, which dropped last month.

The lead single, "Think About That," from her upcoming EP, is set to drop this Friday (Sept 15).
