'Lovergirl' singer Teena Marie was found dead by her daughter, Alia Rose yesterday (December 26), the day after Rose's 19th birthday. Marie was 54.

Marie died in her sleep at her Californian home according to preliminary reports and was planning to perform in Atlanta this week. 

Marie was signed to Motown, Epic, Stax Records and Cash Money Classics since hitting the spotlight at the age of 19. Among her songs were 'Portuguese Love', 'Ooo La La La,' and 'I'm a Sucker For Your Love'.
