'Hero' homeless man admits to stealing from Ariana Grande bomb victims

Chris Parker, who was first hailed a hero for helping bomb victims at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester last year on May 22, has admitted to stealing from the victims.

Parker was due to stand trial yesterday (January 2) but did not turn up and was found hiding in a loft in Yorkshire. The trial was delayed until today (January 3) and Parker admitted to some of the crimes.

He has admitted to stealing and fraud. He was caught after using a debit card he stole from a grandmother.

CCTV footage played to Manchester Crown Court showed him wandering between stricken victims.

He kept returning to injured Pauline Healey, whose granddaughter lay dying nearby, before leaning over her and taking her handbag to steal her purse.

Within hours of stealing the purse, he used Mrs Healey's bank card.

Parker will be sentence on January 30.
