Dua Lipa makes history as most nominated female artist in a year at BRITs

The BRIT Awards 2018 nominations launch show took place in London last night (January 13) and Dua Lipa led the nominations with a staggering five.

This makes the British star the most nominated female artist in a single year at the BRIT Awards, which is set to be held next month at London's O2 Arena.

Lipa's five nods were for British Breakthrough, British Female Solo Artist, Mastercard British Album Of The Year, British Single and Video.

The singer-songwriter's self-titled debut album, along with her No.1 single, "New Rules," helped her become the most streamed female artist in the UK last year.

This week on January 12, she also released the music video for her latest single, "IDGAF," which depicts her singing about being in conflict with her warmer side and colder alter ego. About the video, Lipa said:

“It took us 22 hours to shoot… and with the best people and team, magic happens. This video is about your stronger and weaker side fighting with each other only to realise that self love is what will help you overcome any negativity that comes your way. I hope you like it as much as we have loved making it."

You can catch Dua Lipa performing live at the official BRITs ceremony, along with a host of other acts next month on February 21.
