Zayn on Niall Horan: "We just really support each other"

Zayn has been busy promoting his newly released single 'Let Me' since its release yesterday [April 12].

One radio show, 97.1 AMP, asked him if there was any playful competitiveness between him and his former One Direction bandmates.

Zayn replied: "You know what? I actually just spoke to Niall a couple of days ago. The truth of it is, it's not even like that to be honest, I wish it was a bit more like that!

"We just really support each other and I even spoke to him the other day, I was saying to him I'm really proud of his music and how well he is doing.

"It's almost like an older brother watching over him and it's cool to have that conversation with him.

"We just really support each other, there's no real competition, I don't think, between us."

Zayn's debut solo album Mind of Mine was released on March 25 of 2016 and shot straight to No. 1 in both the UK and US charts. It also topped the charts in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.

Horan's first solo album Flicker was released on October 20 of 2017. It reached the Top 20 in several countries, including No. 1 in the US and Ireland.

[Updated May, 2018] Flicker went on to become BRIT certified Gold for reaching 100,000 sales in the United Kingdom, Australia (35,000 copies), Brazil (20,000), Ireland (7,500) and Sweden (20,000).

Zayn's newly released single 'Let Me' is taken from his highly anticipated and eagerly awaited upcoming second studio album, Icarus Falls
