Track is third of three covers celebrating the iconic band and the biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” in theatres now

November 2, 2018 - In honor of the life and legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen, and celebrating the new biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody (20th Century Fox), Troye Sivan has released his interpretation of the band’s 1976 gospel-inspired hit, “Somebody to Love,” available HERE.

Queen’s original version of the song appeared on the album A Day at the Races.

Troye Sivan said, “I’m so beyond honored to have been asked to cover ‘Somebody to Love’ by Queen, a masterful song by the most legendary band.”

"Troye’s version is a unique take on this Queen classic. It is both moving and totally original. Thank you from us all at the Mercury Phoenix Trust – fighting AIDS worldwide,” said Queen’s manager, Jim Beach.

The track was produced by Bram Inscore – who collaborated with Troye on his 2015 debut album, Blue Neighbourhood, and the recently released follow-up, Bloom – and mixed by Josh Gudwin.

Somebody to Love” is the third in a series of artist covers in support of the Mercury Phoenix Trust (MPT). The MPT was founded in 1992 by Brian May, Roger Taylor and Jim Beach to support the global fight against HIV/AIDS. Troye, together with Universal Music Group (UMG) and Queen, will donate net profits of the track to the MPT.
