Jameela Jamil: 'Women are walking red carpets more empowered than ever'

Jameela Jamil is no stranger to the red carpet this awards season having attended her first Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards due to the phenomenal success of hit series, The Good Place, in which she plays former fundraiser and Baz Luhrmann's muse, the narcissistic Tahani Al-Jamil.

Speaking on the Critics Choice red carpet to E!, she said:

"It's been an amazing year in film and TV where I have personally felt the change of Times Up and Me Too and it just feels like women are walking on these red carpets more empowered than ever before, and having more interesting conversations with journalists than before!"

And indeed, Jamil is, as she donned combat boots under her red carpet dress.

Having realised at the Golden Globes the weekend before that it's important to also be 'comfortable', she decided to ditch the stillies and wear something not the norm.

She told Access:

"I thought my feet were going to break at the Golden Globes and it wasn't worth it! What a dumb thing to ruin the most amazing night of your life! Women shoes are designed to torture us."

The Good Place Season Three premieres this month. Season Four will start filming in the Spring until then Jamil plans to travel and write her book.
