Kanye West's Twitter war with Britney

Kanye West and Jay-Z's new single 'H.A.M' has been kept off the top number one spot in the iTunes chart by Britney Spears' 'Hold It Against Me'.

West decided to write to Britney via Twitter about it: "Yo Britney, I'm really happy for you and I'mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z's single is one of the best songs of all time! LOL."

The tweet was later removed but not before Spears' manager, Adam Leber read it and responded: "Thanks for 'letting' us be #1. Much appreciated."

West apologised and told his followers: On a serious note I'm truly happy for Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears. No hate in 2011 ... I thought LOL signified a joke."
