AVRIL LAVIGNE GEARING UP FOR FIRST GLOBAL TOUR IN NEARLY A DECADE

WATCH VIDEOS BELOW

Superstar Avril Lavigne is set to play her first shows abroad in nearly a decade.

The music star, who is one of Canada's most popular singer-songwriters, has sold close to 30 million albums worldwide, paving her own path to rock'n'roll royalty.

Lavigne will take her Head Above Water tour to a host of European cities and the UK, before heading onto Japan, China and South East Asia. She announced the tour on her social media earlier this year on June 24, also stating that a portion of the proceeds from every ticket sold will be donated to The Avril Lavigne Foundation to raise awareness and fund treatment for those in need.

As reported previously, it's the first time the 35-year-old has performed abroad since 2011's The Black Star Tour.

Lavigne has just finished her first North American tour in five years, admitting being back on stage has "brought [her] so much happiness" after her long battle with Lyme Disease, which she fell ill with in 2014.

The shows are in support of her album Head Above Water, which documents her battle with the illness. The record was released in February and is her first studio effort since her self-titled 2013 record.

Lavigne previously said: "Music has been more healing than ever for me. I was at a point where I wasn't sure whether I'd be working or even doing music again, and then I started writing songs from my bedroom.

"We had the most amazing time performing on the US Head Above Water Tour!!

"I truly missed being up on stage, singing with you and this has brought me so much happiness which is why I’m even more excited to announce that I’ll be taking the Head Above Water Tour worldwide next year with dates in Europe, Japan, China and Southeast Asia!"
