Rod Stewart To Play Elland Road Stadium

Rock 'n' Roll superstar Rod Stewart is set to play at Elland Road Stadium in June.

The Grammy winning hall of fame star will be strutting his stuff at the home of Leeds United this year as part of his European tour.

Rod, whose career has spanned over four decades and has sold in excess of 100m records worldwide, will take to the stage at Elland Road on Friday June 3 2011.

The legendary singer/songwriter, whose back catalogue includes number one smashes Maggie May and Tonight's The Night, is delighted to be playing at the stadium.

"As a huge football fan it's fantastic to be playing at another world famous stadium," he said.

"I once said I am a rock star because I couldn't be a soccer star, so it's thrilling to get the chance to play venues like this.

I always enjoy English dates and this being our only show in the north makes for a very exciting prospect."

Rod will follow in the footsteps of the Kaiser Chiefs, the Happy Mondays, U2 and Queen by performing at Elland Road.

Leeds United CEO Shaun Harvey was delighted to confirm Rod's appearance at the stadium, and he is hoping the people of the north will turn out to see the legend performing.

"Leeds United are delighted to welcome Rod Stewart to Elland Road," he said.

"The very fact that this will be his exclusive performance in the north of England this year speaks volumes about the draw of Elland Road and it promises to be a great occasion.

We've always said how important it is to utilise Elland Road beyond matchdays and this is a terrific example of what we believe we can offer the city."

Tickets are on sale now.
