JOHN POPPER & THE DUSKRAY TROUBADOURS Set for March 1st Record Release and U.S. Tour

Band to Appear on Lopez Tonight March 1st and Barnes & Noble In-Store March 2nd

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 22, 2011 -- John Popper, the iconoclastic front man of Blues Traveler, is preparing for the release March 1st of his new project, JOHN POPPER AND THE DUSKRAY TROUBADOURS.  The result of a month-long recording session in the mountains of New Mexico, John Popper's Duskray project is much less a solo endeavor as opposed to a fully realized band featuring guitarist/producer Jono Manson, bassist Steve Lindsay, drummer Mark Clark and guitarists Kevin Trainor and Aaron Beavers.  The band will embark on an extensive U.S. tour that kicks off in Seattle next week and the band will perform on the George Lopez Show on March 1st(release date!).  In addition, the band will perform a special acoustic set at the Barnes & Noble @ The Grove in Los Angeles on March 2nd at 7pm.

The musician known as "the greatest harmonica player in the world" has sold millions of albums, won a Grammy Award, played the tour impresario when he conceived the H.O.R.D.E. tour, recorded several genre bending solo projects and embodied the fast living, gun toting, weed smoking outlier.  Now comes the Duskray Troubadours project, a rock solid and exhilarating rock collaboration anchored by the strong musical bond between Popper and Jono—they hung out and performed in the same clubs along 2nd Avenue in New York City back in the early 80's.

Says Popper in the Portland Tribune:  "Blues Traveler vocally and harmonica wise involves a lot more acrobatics. The harp playing is a lot more subtle on (the Troubadours') album. I have melodies to cling to."
