BTS' Unrivaled Global Success Includes Topping the Charts in 21 Countries

BTS have repeatedly proven that they are a force like no other, with an ARMY like no other.

This week again [April 16], the commerical juggernauts have been named the most streamed group on global Spotify with 13.8m.

And we may only be in the first quarter of 2020, but already the supergroup's fourth studio album Map of the Soul: 7 has garnered phenomenal global success by topping the official albums charts in 21 countries, including:

South Korea
US
UK
Irish
Scotland
Canada
Japan
France
Spain
Germany
Switzerland
Holland
Australia
Austria
Belgium
New Zealand
Poland
Portugal
Hungary
Lithuania
Estonia

The South Korean septet have broken countless records, but one of the most impressive to-date is that they also join Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Linkin Park, Whitney Houston, Red Hot Chilli Peppers & Madonna as the only artists in history to top all 5 album charts of the biggest music markets in the world simultaneously with one album. BTS' chart-topping record Map of the Soul: 7 not only reached Number 1 in the US, but also the UK, Germany, France and Japan.

In under nine days of its release, the LP sold more than 4.1 million copies in the group's native country for the first time in Gaon Album Chart's history, making it the best-selling album in South Korea's history and breaking the Guinness World Record of its predecessor, Map of the Soul: Persona.

As reported earlier this week on Monday [April 13], BTSsingle "ON" surpassed an incredible 100 million streams on Spotify recently over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

The combined streams of both the original track and the one which features Sia from Map of the Soul: 7 had already amounted to 103,971,667 at the time of writing this article, but it is constantly altering and rising fast. The original track had also already reached over 60 million streams and the version featuring Sia had over 43 million streams at the time of writing, but again this is constantly altering and rising fast.

"ON" was released in February of this year as part of BTS' 20-song tracklist on their latest album. The single debuted atop the Billboard Digital Songs Sales chart and became the song with the best debut performance since Taylor Swift’s "Me!"

BTS have also been named the group with the best selling pure album of 2020 so far in the US with Map of the Soul: 7.

The album debuted at the top spot of Billboard 200 on March 7 making it their fourth album to do so. They are the fastest group to generate four Number 1 albums on the Top 200 since the legendary British band, The Beatles.

Since then, Map of the Soul: 7 has been staying steady on the chart and is still charting, proving their power as global artists. Last week the K-pop act set a new record remaining within the Top 25 spots at Billboard 200 for six consecutive weeks.

BTS are also among the Top 10 most streamed groups in YouTube history [all official videos; with features], coming in at #2 just behind pop-rockers, Maroon 5.

The lads have a busy weekend ahead [April 18 and 19], and are set to show full concerts from various tours on their YouTube page in an event they have named Bang Bang Con, and we cannot wait.

[UPDATED APRIL 18 & 19] BTS' entire Korean albums discography re-entered the US iTunes chart following Bang Bang Con day one.

Their virtual concert also set a new record by attracting over 2.24 million YouTube viewers as soon as it started and marked over 50.59 million views in total. Save Italian music icon, Andrea Bocelli, this makes BTS one of the most viewed artists on the platform's entire history during a live broadcast.
