Beyoncé encourages fans to take more action over the murder of George Floyd

Last night on May 29, Beyoncé posted another message about George Floyd's death on Instagram saying: "If you want to demand more charges brought on all those involved in the death of George Floyd, click the link in my bio to sign the petition" [see below].

The global superstar is one of many celebrities who have spoken out recently about being outraged over the murder of Floyd in Minneapolis this week on Monday, May 25.

On her official website [see here] Beyoncé also displayed a photo of him with the simple caption: "REST IN POWER GEORGE FLOYD".

His horrific death took place at the hands of a white police officer, Derek Chauvin. The gross midconduct happened during broad daylight and was filmed as distressed onlookers tried to intervene.

The clip went viral and showed the Minnesota officer kneeling on the neck of an unarmed and handcuffed black man, Floyd, for nine minutes until he suffocated and died. Floyd cried out that he could not breathe from the excessive force of the knee on his neck, begging Chauvin to stop, but shortly after his unresponsive body was laid on a stretcher and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The officers involved were fired on Tuesday [May 26].

The official report about the altercation contradicted the footage that surfaced showing the disturbing act of police brutality. As a result, widespread protests have broken out across the U.S. in Minneapolis and other cities; including Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago and Detroit.

According to Hennepin County Attorney, Mike Freeman, Chauvin has now been charged with third degree murder and manslaughter and he anticipates charges for three other officers who were fired over Floyd’s death too.

However, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner has announced that it has made “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation.” The medical examiner suggested underlying health conditions contributed to his death.

Wanting justice, Floyd’s family say they will now seek an independent autopsy.
