Brian McFadden and Delta Goodrem have confirmed they have split after four years together.

The Australian singer and former Westlife member issued a joint statement announcing that the separation was mutual and amicable:

"Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden regretfully announce that they are no longer engaged, and after much consideration, have mutually decided to end their relationship.

"This decision has been made with a lot of soul searching from both parties with the realisation that they have grown apart. 

"They leave the partnership with respect for one and other, wishing each other success and happiness for the future."

The couple got together when McFadden asked Goodrem to duet with him on his song, 'Almost Here', which was about his break-up from Kerry Katona in 2004.

McFadden divorced Katona, the former Atomic Kitten and reality TV star, in 2006.
