Pop Smoke's Posthumous Album in the Race for this Week's UK Number One

It looks like late Pop Smoke could potentially be heading for a Number One album in the UK tomorrow [Friday, September 25].

The rapper's posthumous album, Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon, has climbed up four places since Monday’s [Sept. 21] chart update this week.

His album has gained significant ground in the past 48 hours on leaders Ava Max and Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason.

Just 849 copies separate the Top 3 in this week's UK albums chart, with two days left of the chart week and more streaming data to arrive which looks set to tip further in Pop Smoke’s favor.

Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon is the debut studio album by Pop Smoke, and first posthumous project following his murder from a home invasion on February 19, 2020. It was released on July 3, 2020.

The deluxe version of the late artist's posthumous debut album was released on July 20 to celebrate what would have been Pop Smoke's 21st birthday. It includes 14 new songs with features from Jamie Foxx, Young Thug, Gunna, Burna Boy, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Davido, Fivio Foreign and more.

The album topped the Billboard 200 Chart and his single, 'For The Night,' debuted inside the top ten of the Hot 100 chart, becoming the first Pop Smoke song to do so.

The album also topped the charts in Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland. It became the highest charting debut rap album from an international artist in the UK following 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' was released in 2003.
