Louis Tomlinson Announces Artist Management Company Plans

Louis Tomlinson has announced that he hopes to set-up his own artist management company in the future. The former One Direction star wrote on Twitter that he has always dreamed of founding a record label to help new artists grow.

He had previously launched an imprint of Simon Cowell’s Syco Music in 2015 titled Triple Strings, but admitted that he had found it tricky having to get someone else’s blessing before being able to sign artists that he liked, some of whom were not making “traditional” pop music.

He wrote on Twitter on Saturday, March 6: "I always dreamed of having my own label, having an imprint never really worked for me because I still had to have someone else’s blessing to sign people.

"So I’ve decided to put it out there in the world today. I’m going to start my own music management company to help develop new artists. Watch this space.

"I just wanted to take the first step of actualising the idea but at this stage that’s all this is. An idea! P.s. a management company not a label."

Last year in July, Tomlinson revealed that he had left Syco Music and was working on new music. Cowell and Tomlinson have had a long association after the singer-songwriter appeared on The X Factor in 2010 with his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan. The band were also previously signed to Syco Music. Tomlinson was also an X Factor judge alongside Cowell in 2018.

Louies got the chance to see their idol perform live in London for a special, one-night-only concert last year on December 12 in support of his debut album, Walls. His performance was hailed as Veeps’ best-selling stream of the year and biggest male solo artists livestream of 2020.

Walls was released on January 31 of last year through Syco music and Arista Records. It spawned five singles: 'Two of Us', 'Kill My Mind', 'We Made It', 'Don't Let It Break Your Heart' and the title track 'Walls'. The album debuted at No. 1 in Mexico, Argentina, Portugal and Scotland, and debuted in the top ten in Canada, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Poland and Spain. It also debuted and peaked at No. 9 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
