Harry Styles Set to Open This Year’s Grammy Awards

Harry Styles has been announced as the opening performer at this year’s Grammy Awards.

It is the first time the former One Direction star has performed at the show and he joins four other solo artists in opening the awards ceremony over the last ten years. Taylor Swift opened it twice in 2013 and 2016 respectively, Adele in 2017 and Lizzo last year.

Which song or songs the British superstar will be performing this year, has yet to be confirmed, but ‘Watermelon Sugar’ and ‘Adore You’ are nominated for awards on the night. With three nominations in total, Styles is up for Best Pop Solo Performance (‘Watermelon Sugar’), Best Music Video (‘Adore You’) and Best Pop Vocal Album (Fine Line). These are the first Grammy nominations of Styles’ career both with and without One Direction.

Other performers on the night will include Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Post Malone and Roddy Ricch, Chris Martin, BTS, Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny, Black Pumas, Brandi Carlile, DaBaby, Doja Cat, Haim, Mickey Guyton, Brittany Howard, Miranda Lambert, Lil Baby, John Mayer, Maren Morris.

According to a post on the official Grammys website, “artists will be coming together, while still safely apart, to play music for each other as a community and celebrate the music that unites us all”.
