Adele Spends Third Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Adele's latest album 30 has racked up a third consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, capturing the largest third week for any record in over three years, since Drake's Scorpion earned 260,000 in its third frame on July 28, 2018.

According to MRC Data, 30 earned 193,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending December 9 (-33% compared to the previous week).

The 33-year-old British star's latest effort also made a record-breaking debut in the U.K. at No. 1 in November. With first-week chart sales totaling 261,000, the album scored the biggest opening week of 2021 to-date, overtaking ABBA's Voyage (204,000). It was also the biggest first-week for an album since Ed Sheeran's Divide in 2017, as well as the biggest opener for a female solo album since Adele's previous album, 25, in 2015.

The multiple Grammy winning singer-songwriter - who filed for divorce in 2019 from Simon Konecki after being separated for a long time following their marriage the previous year - revealed to Vogue Magazine in October of this year that her new album is her most personal release to date.

Adele said: "I feel like this album is self-destruction. Then self-reflection and then sort of self-redemption."
