Radio 5 Live to visit holiday hotspots

LONDON, July 18, 2011 -- As the nation gears up for the busy summer holiday period, BBC Radio 5 Live will visit holiday hotspots around the country to examine the state of the British tourist industry.

On Monday 18 July, Breakfast will come live from Blackpool with Rachel Burden presenting from the Big Blue Hotel on the beach and from the seaside town's North Pier. Tracy Dawson, wife of the late Les Dawson, will join Rachel on the show and Bernie CliftonThe Krankies and Ken Dodd will capture their memories of the town's heyday in Postcards from Blackpool.

From 2pm on Wednesday 20 July Richard Bacon will be live from Camber Sands looking at the Great British holiday tradition of taking the family to a holiday camp. Richard will join in the fun with holidaymakers and some of the current batch of Blue Coats, to look at how the experience has changed over the years and examine what's at the heart of the resorts' enduring appeal.

On Thursday 21 July, at the start of one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, Tony Livesey will be live from Manchester Airport covering the Great British getaway, talking to holidaymakers to find out why they have decided against holidaying in the UK. Tony will broadcast from the runway, a cockpit and the air traffic control tower. Plus, he'll be exploring whether more airports should be built in the UK and whether there should be an increase in Air Passenger Duty.

You can listen to BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 Live Sports Extra via digital radio, online, Digital Freeview, Sky, Freesat, Virgin Media and 909 & 693 AM.
