Listen to “Wish You The Best” By Lewis Capaldi

Lewis Capaldi has released his new single "Wish You The Best" today (Friday, April 14). It's the third song taken from his brand new record Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly - set to be released on May 19.

The music megastar's return has been phenomenal, picking straight back up where he left off on his debut, rocketing straight to the top of the U.K. singles chart in September last year with comeback track "Forget Me", which became Platinum-certified and smashed over 200 million streams globally. The song quickly turned into his back-to-back fourth U.K. Number 1 with stunning second single "Pointless", an honor that equalled the likes of Whitney Houston, Cher, Jay-Z, One Direction, Pharrell, Justin Timberlake and Usher.

Capaldi is currently selling out shows wherever he goes, including his recent U.K. & European arena tour, as he currently sweeps his way across a sold out North American arena tour, with festival headline shows, his biggest outdoor performances to date, as well as a sold out Australia & New Zealand arena tour still to come.

The 26-year-old Scot has never sounded better than when he's doing things on his own terms, nor writes better when he has faith in his own abilities - something that new track "Wish You The Best" showcases in spades. Co-written partly in Los Angeles with JP Saxe and Malay, and finished at home in Glasgow, it's Capaldi at his very best.

Capaldi explains: "Wish You The Best came from the idea of a person you used to be with, telling you all this amazing stuff about their life, without you in it.

"It's a song about what we don't say to those people. I was fascinated by the things left unsaid, whether that be in a relationship or a friendship."

And he even said it was "probably the saddest song he's ever written". Talking to Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills, he said: "It’s about someone moving on and that feeling where you know it's the best thing for that person.

"But all you say is 'good luck I'm really happy for you' but actually you are dying inside and want to tell them all the things you miss about them and why they should stay with you.

In the tear-jerking music video (Watch below) which he released on the same day, an elderly mail carrier named John is joined by his faithful companion, a sweet-faced little dog named Willow. As the video unfolds, its cycle-of-life narrative shines a warm light on the devastating pain of loss and the redemptive power of love, infusing each moment with the kind of unaffected emotional truth that leaves a lasting imprint on the heart.

The brand new single follows the recent release of Capaldi's special, raw and honest feature length music documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now, in partnership with Netflix, BMG, & Pulse Films. The documentary shot straight to the top of the Netflix chart, making it the most watched film on the platform since its release. Directed by BAFTA winner Joe Pearlman (Harry Potter 20th AnniversaryAfter the Screaming Stops) the all-access film is the story of a young artist, returning to his roots after achieving unbelievable global success, attempting to reconnect with his old life and the family and friends he left behind.

Along with the release of the documentary, Capaldi also unveiled the brutally honest title track "How I'm Feeling Now" (listen below), which will also feature on the upcoming new album.

For his highly anticipated second album, the idea has been simple but potent: to go in and do the exact same thing. No bells, whistles or starry featured vocalists, and no ruinously expensive stays in distant studios. Like it was on his debut, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent is straight-up, full-force honesty.

If his first album made him an international superstar, with his second it's nothing less than superstardom that beckons. For the insatiable appetite for Capaldi is burning brighter than ever.
