Donald Trump takes credit for Lady Gaga's success

Donald Trump has taken credit for discovering Lady Gaga and launching her on the path to superstardom.

The American businessman-cum-reality-show star told Hollyscoop his decision to let a then unknown Lady Gaga provide the entertainment during the 2008 Miss Universe pageant was the turning point in the singer's career.

Trump said: “My people told me, 'Nobody knows who she is but there's this woman with good talent named Lady Gaga'. I said, 'Give me a break'. And then they said, 'She's really good'. So I said, 'I don't care, if you like her, put her on.”

Despite his apparent indifference during the decision-making process, Trump claims that after Lady Gaga's appearance on the Trump-owned pageant, all people could talk about was the flamboyant singer:

“It was live all over the United States and all over the world and the next day, nobody was talking about Miss Universe, everybody was talking, ‘Who was the woman, who was the entertainer? She was unbelievable.'”

Three years on and Lady Gaga's popularity shows little sign of waning. As reported by Pressparty, the 25-year old was yesterday (December 20) crowned Entertainer of the Year by the Associated Press (AP).
