Sami Raimi Slated to Direct "Send Help," New "Cast Away" Meets "Misery" Horror Thriller

Sami Raimi, the renowned horror director, may be taking the director's chair for new horror thriller, "Send Help."

The "Evil Dead" franchise showrunner has been named as the director by Deadline for the film which has been penned by Baywatch writing duo, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Swift and Shannon have already branched out into the horror genre with 2003's "Freddy vs. Jason" and 2009's "Friday the 13th."

Set on an island, the movie merges the ethos of Rob Reiner's "Misery" and Rob Zemeckis' "Cast Away."

Although the film hasn't officially been greenlit by 20th Century, it looks set to be confirmed shortly.

Raimi's last original horror movie was the 2009 film Drag Me to Hell, which he also wrote the screenplay for with his brother Ivan Raimi
