Whitney Houston to be buried alongside her father today

Whitney Houston will be buried next to her father, John Houston, at The Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey later today (February 19).

Her father was laid to rest in 2003 and the singer will be placed in a plot next to his grave. Houston died last saturday (February 11) aged 48.

The burial will follow yesterday's star-studded funeral service (February 18), which saw Alicia Keys, R Kelly and Stevie Wonder sing tributes to the singer.

Leg spasms prevented Aretha Franklin from attending her god daughter's funeral.

Kevin Costner who co-starred in 'The Bodyguard', gave an emotional eulogy in which he described Houston as "an angel" and "a beautiful human being".

Her mentor, Sony Music's chief creative officer, Clive Davis told the congregation:

"You wait for a voice like that for a lifetime.  You wait for a face like that, a smile like that, a presence like that for a lifetime. And when one person embodies it all, well it takes your breath away.  That’s the way I felt in 1983  when in the middle of your act at Sweetwater's, Cissy, your daughter stepped forward and shattered me with her version of 'Greatest Love Of All.' And that night we connected and then we connected with each other every night thereafter for the rest of her life."

Davis finished his eulogy by saying: " ... she looked at me and quietly said, "I want you to know I’m getting in shape. I’m swimming an hour or two a day and I’m committed to get my high notes back -- no cigarettes -- plenty of vocal exercising -- Clive, I’ll be ready by August." Well, Whitney I’m gonna hold you to it.  Everyone in heaven -- including God -- is waiting.  And I just know you’re gonna raise the roof like no one has ever done before."

Ex-husband, Bobby Brown, attended but left a few minutes later. Brown issued a statement stating that security moved him three times at the funeral, so he decided to leave.

Houston's body arrived in a gold hearse for the funeral service which lasted almost four hours. It was filmed by one camera by the Associated Press.
