Remembering Amy Winehouse on her 35th posthumous birthday

Amy Winehouse was born 35 years ago today, but sadly passed on July 23 in 2011, at her Camden home in London, UK.

The global superstar was only 27 years old, but she had already amassed millions of album sales - mainly from her Back to Black album, which was produced by Mark Ronson

Winehouse only had librium in her blood at the time of her death.

Her father, Mitch Winehouse, told Anderson Cooper"She was prescribed Librium [Chlordiazepoxide], which is a normal drug that is given to people who are detoxing and it kind of decreases the chances of having seizures.

"And she was continuing to take one of those pills everyday."

Back to Black was released in 2006. It led to five 2008 Grammy Awards, tying the record at that time for the most wins by any female artist in a single night.

The album made her the first British woman to win five Grammys, including three of the General Field "Big Four" Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

The talented singer-songwriter also won three Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors in 2004; Best Contemporary Song for Stronger Than Me in 2007; Best Contemporary Song for Rehaband Best Song Musically and Lyrically for Love Is a Losing Game in 2008.

She also won the 2007 Brit Award for Best British Female Artist, having been nominated for  Best British Album with Back to Black.

It's been seven years since the death of the critically acclaimed music star, but Amy Winehouse's legacy still lives on with her incredible catalogue of music which is sure to be played and adored around the world by many for years to come.
