Amy Winehouse's brother on singer: "She was killed by bulimia"

Amy Winehouse's older brother has claimed that bulimia was the main force behind the singer's untimely death.

The 'Back to Black' star died in July 2011 aged 27, with the coroner ruling that she died of "misadventure" via alcohol abuse.

However, Alex Winehouse told the Observer that the singer's connection to eating disorder bulimia left her body fatally weak and "susceptible". He said:

"She would have died eventually, the way she was going, but what really killed her was the bulimia. Had she not have had an eating disorder, she would have been physically stronger."

The 33-year-old added that Winehouse's eating problems developed in her teens as she and her friends indulged in self-vomiting. He revealed:

"They'd put loads of rich sauces on their food, scarf it down and throw it up. They stopped doing it, but Amy never really stopped. We all knew she was doing it but it's almost impossible [to tackle], especially if you're not talking about it."

The Amy Winehouse Foundation meanwhile recently donated money to Beat, the world's largest eating disorders charity.
