Kyriakos Gabriel Varnava has released his accordantly strident alt-indie-art-rock single ‘Tonight’

New Zealand-based artist, Kyriakos Gabriel Varnava’s first ballad, ‘Tonight’, hits the airwaves on March 6th. His fourth release introduces a softer side to his songwriting which is discernibly free from fear when it comes to wearing his heart on his sleeve to help others grieve and come to terms with loss.

The delicate yet resounding single, produced by Ant Tarrant, unravels through accordant layers of art-rock, vulnerability and alt-folk, inviting listeners into a tenderly resonant mindset.
With Radiohead-style pensive keys, intimate indie guitars which ring with apathy and unapologetically romantic vocals, Tonight efficaciously captures the hopelessness which stays in the wake of broken promises.

Kyriakos Gabriel Varnava said:

This song was written during (and for) hours late at night when you are waiting and waiting for someone to come and you are left with empty promises.

Amelia Vandergast at A&R Factory said:

Tonight paradoxically leaves you sobered while simultaneously intoxicating you with the same air as Tom Waits’ whiskey-soaked melancholic but strident classics while allowing you to fall in love with Kyriakos Gabriel Varnava’s signature sound. His honesty is exactly what we need on the radio right now.

With a love of Nirvana, Anathema, Radiohead, Madrugada, Sivert Hoyem, Kaleo and Manchester Orchestra and plenty of talent of their own, Cyprus-born, New Zealand-residing singer-songwriter, Kyriakos Gabriel Varnava’s debut release was a long time in the making.

After honing-in on his talent as a cover artist, he found his passion for original expression and released his first single in September 2020. Tonight is the fourth single released which came as a precursor to his upcoming debut EP.
