After a successful debut, the Atlanta-based experimental electronica artist and producer, A Broken System, is set to release his expansively dynamic debut EP, An Escape, on December 3rd.

With every track different from the last, An Escape is just that; a journey through caustic cyberpunk energy, ambient-deep-tech, trip-hop and sultry acid-house before ending on the accordance of spacey vintage synths and haunting reverb.

A Broken System’s tendency to push his vintage sound in different directions to other contemporary artists, engineers and producers, allows his sound to carry the hallmarks of a pioneer. Yet any fans of Oneohtrix Point Never, JPEGMAFIA and Shlomo will appreciate his cinematic sonic palette.

A Broken System said:

“An Escape is an amalgamation of influence from many different films, film scores, and video games. It is escapism in the internet age; urban spaces as well as nature and the environments I have moved between.

Amelia Vandergast at A&R Factory said:

“An Escape is a synthesised sanctuary for anyone who feels at home in vintage electronic tones. The eight tracks pull together as an immersive, explorative sensory experience that you can’t help getting absorbed by. There’s an underlying darkness to An Escape, dousing the curation of singles with a sense of fitting dystopian realism. It gives us the reality that Blade Runner teased.”

About

The Atlanta-based artist and producer started making beats on his laptop in 2015 before experimenting with analog samplers and synths; he finally converged the two in his 2021 debut single, Lens Flare, followed by his successful sophomore single, And When You Reach the Gates.

With his influences as far-ranging as Kanye West, Oneohtrix Point Never, JPEGMAFIA, Led Zeppelin and Daft Punk and his inclination to look towards landscapes and film scores for inspiration, A Broken System is bringing the digital age closer to nature and culture.
