The Marikina, Philippines-hailing alt hip hop artist, L!FE, is set to release his most poignant single to date. Take Your Time will officially release on February 18th, 2022; it unravels as the ultimate antithesis of the toxic motivational diatribe that leaves us feeling guilty in every moment that we aren’t perusing material gains.

The chilled lo-fi hip hop track makes the lyrical messages that compel you to slow down before you burn out even more convincing. The smooth melodies stand as the perfect testament to the beauty in the slow, steady and mindful approach to life.

You couldn’t ask for sweeter definitive evidence that burnout is a symptom of capitalism than the independently produced lo-fi alt-hip hop track that incorporates nuances of L!FE’s love of rock and indie-pop.

L!FE said:

“Take Your Time is for everyone in the same situation as me, who feels driven towards their success and leaves themselves at risk of burnout. In this day and age, “motivational speakers” drive us towards it and away from our passion.

Take Your Time counteracts their holier than thou tropes while reminding the listener that we’re not one-dimensional beings; we deal with a great number of things in our lives, and sometimes, for things to work in our favour, we need time.”

Amelia Vandergast, Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“L!FE has reversed plenty of the damage that hustler hip hop has done by shaming people into believing that their bank account reflects their worth. Through wordplay that is clever enough to challenge the masochistic pressures that we put on ourselves and his sun-kissed melodies that drip-feed dopamine, L!FE ensures that you'll be sharing his mindfully mellow outlook from the first chorus.”

About

Growing up, L!FE’s aural diet consisted of Sum 41, Billy Talent, MCR and All American Rejects. He started producing beats in 2017; at the same time, he was the bassist in his band, Area Five, until he became heavily invested in the world of music production.

In 2020, the self-taught artist wrote and produced his first song and continued to hone in on his songwriting talent until his official debut single, Real Life. His rock influences are incredibly nuanced in his sound that now holds melodic reminiscences to the rapper and singer Aries. Throughout 2022, L!FE will be releasing a single a month and working on his debut EP/Album.
