Currently anchored in his Cypriot studio, Hot Soap Studios, the international artist KAIS has crafted another uplifting alt-indie rock hit out of Hot Air Balloon. It blends the anthemics of Muse with the choral hooks of Oasis, finding plenty of room for the off-kilter grungy rock licks that add resilience to the progressively evocative single.

The earworm takes an unassuming object and uses it to verse on the notion of mental sanctity and freedom from the mechanics of modern enslavement. All to the tune of the 90s Britpop era aesthetics mixed with rich psychedelic synthetics.

The upbeat funk-laced indie guitars and even more zealous basslines give the Taylor Hawkins-Esque drums from percussionist Stefanos Eliopolous even more of a punch under KAIS’ honeyed vocal harmonics.

KAIS said:

“This song paints the analogy of a Hot Air Balloon as it relates to pregnancy, resembling the growth of a woman’s tummy to the inflation of a Hot Air Balloon. As pregnancy moves along and the process unfolds, whereby a spirit permeates and rises into the boundless world, a Hot Air Balloon grows and rises into the ether (where our thoughts drift and amalgamate) in about the same way.”

Amelia Vandergast, the Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“Every time, KAIS breezes back even better than the last time we heard his exploratively introspective tracks, which still come with that A-list radio-ready appeal, despite the seemingly infinite depth.”

About

Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer KAIS (Kais Khoury) takes the complexities of the human condition as inspiration for his fusionist sound that sonically melds indie, psych, soul-infused blues, rock and folk.

At the outset of his career, he addressed global topics before exploring the drab difficulties and profound beauty of being human. As a lover of the metaphysical, KAIS’ work consists of finding the balance between natural inclinations and the demands in an ego-driven late-stage capitalist world.

In 2014, he took part in the Mayor of London Big Busk and graduated with a diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering. He toured Vancouver, Toronto and Seattle with a full band in 2016 and 2017, received an honorary mention in the 2016 International Songwriting Competition, a Canadian Best Out of Province nomination at the 13th Annual Toronto Independent Music Awards and a Lyrics Finalist position in the 2017 USA Songwriting Competition.

In 2020, KAIS joined the London Indie sync licensing roster, North Note; in 2021, he was interviewed by BBC Radio London host Robert Elms for his 2018 single, Take Me Home.
