Charlotte, NC-residing hip hop artist, Jeremiah Kingston, made his galvanizing debut with the You’re Not Gonna Like This EP. Evading fake gangster rap tropes, Kingston used his blazing autonomy to light a fire under each of the five singles.

Starting with the jazz prelude in Icarus, the EP sets a smoky tone before Kingston tears through it with the animated bounce in the bars and the anthemic production.. Track 2, Birds, dips into naturalistic textures before becoming the most striking demonstration of the smooth tenacity of Kingston’s canter. The sticky melodies bolster the earworm potential before the EP careers into YNGLT, which is straight-up old-school East Coast hip hop class.

Track 4, Evolving, which features THANKYOUKAGE, shaw, and Militia Jones strips back the sonic momentum to properly exhibit the wit, soul and intellect in Kingston’s lyrics before the EP closes on the unforgettable grooves in Home. With playful polyphonic textures under his earnestly soulful vocals, the vulnerability in the track is just as enamouring as the sugar-coated pop-kissed rhythms.

Jeremiah Kingston said:

“The inspiration for my EP came from me not liking where I was at in life and deciding to make a change. You’re Not Gonna Like This captures the energy that pushed me forward into a more positive position and perception.”

Amelia Vandergast, the Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“Jeremiah Kingston reminded me exactly why I fell in love with hip hop in the 90s. The larger-than-life personality, the wild energy, the eccentric instrumentals... Anything goes in Jeremiah Kingston’s debut and yet it all fits together seamlessly, making it one of the most promising we’ve heard this year.”
