Following his 2021 debut album, Blue World, the Norway-hailing amalgamator of indie rock, bedroom pop and hip hop, Denim Blue, is primed to release his EP, Vacation Blues.

Ahead of the anticipated release, he has three singles in the pipeline, starting with the genre-fluid bittersweet heartbreaker, Brand New. With its bedroom pop intimacy, new wave hip hop bite and arrestingly colourful indie melodies propping up his raw with vulnerability vocal harmonies, few modern releases are as soul-stirringly sweet.

As he is always at the point of discovery and improvement, there is no anticipating what comes next from Denim Blue but fans of Post Malone, Cuco, and Hoodie Allen will want to start paying attention right about now.

After being recorded in Denim Blue’s bedroom, Brand New was produced by the industry legend Fantom, mixed and mastered by Dan Konopka, who previously drummed in OK Go.

Brand New is a bittersweet song; happy and pleasant, yet sad and reminiscent of the past. I wanted it to be perplexing; like the emotions that come to fruition when reminded of the past. I created a soundscape of summer, bright and melodic, with a sadder yet playful undertone in the lyrics, which are about struggling to let go – even if it is for the better. I recorded it about two years ago and kept returning to it with a good feeling. I hope others will get a good feeling from it too.
