Arcade Fire’s 'Reflektor' debuts at the top of the UK album chart

Arcade Fire’s fourth album ‘Reflektor’ has soared to the top of the UK album chart.

‘Reflektor’ gives the Canadian collective their second No. 1 UK album as ‘The Suburbs’ previously reached the top spot back in 2010.

Arcade Fire easily dislodged last week’s top-selling album as ‘Reflektor’ outsold Katy Perry’s ‘Prism’ by almost two copies to one over the past seven days.

Perry’s former No. 1 album now sits at No. 2 in the chart. Just behind ‘Prism’ this week is James Blunt’s ‘Moon Landing’.

Another new entry to this week’s top five is Lorde’s ‘Pure Heroine’ at No. 4.

Completing the top five is Arctic Monkeys with ‘AM’ which is down one place to No. 5.

New entries to this week’s album chart include Union J’s self-titled debut at No. 6, Matt Cardle’s ‘Porcelain’ at No. 11, Linkin Park’s remix album ‘Recharged’ just behind at No. 12, Paul Potts’ ‘Greatest Hits’ is new in at No. 21, Chas & Dave’s ‘That’s What Happens’ sits at No. 25 and Boy George’s ‘This Is What I Do’ has reached No. 33.

‘Overgrown’ – the Mercury Prize-winning album by James Blake – has rocketed up the chart, going from outside of the top 200 to No. 23.

Another re-entry to this week’s chart comes from the late Lou Reed, who passed away last week, as his 1973 solo album ‘Transformer’ has climbed to No. 35 this week.
