Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner unsure about Metallica headlining Glastonbury

Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner believes the Glastonbury Festival might be too "hippy" for Metallica.

The US rock titans were confirmed recently as the festival's Saturday night headliner, making them the first metal act to top the bill.

Speaking to Time Out before Metallica were officially confirmed for their June 28 slot, Turner said that he thinks the 'Master of Puppets' group might have a hard time engaging with Glastonbury's traditional audience.

Talking about the then rumours, he said: "I'm not sure it adds up. I know we'd buzz off it, but fundamentally could you have Metallica in the hippy nucleus?"

Referring meanwhile to the first time he ever attended the iconic festival, Turner added:

"I did the stone circle thing. I was dressed as a crocodile because Lily Allen had a load of fancy dress costumes. I remember wrestling James from Klaxons in the mud as the sun rose."
