Arctic Monkeys lead NME Award nominations with 7 nods

Arctic Monkeys have been nominated for an impressive 7 titles at this year's NME Awards. 

It was announced yesterday, January 30, that the 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor' stars are up for a number of the ceremony's most coveted prizes including Best British Band, Best Album, Best Track, Most Dedicated Fans, Best Live Band, Best Video and Best Album Artwork.

Arctic Monkeys' frontman Alex Turner is also in the running for the Hero of the Year award.

Speaking about the exciting news the band's drummer, Matt Helders, explained: "We're up for all the big ones. We're very happy. We had a lot of fun making Suck It And See and it's great to be up for Best Live Band. That's all we do - record or play live - so it's good to be recognised!"

 

 

 

Meanwhile, newcomer Lana Del Rey has 3 nods namely for 'Video Games', which earned her nominations for Best Track and Best Video, and her third is for Best New Band. 

The ceremony for the 2012 NME Awards will take place at Brixton's O2 Academy on February 29 and the full list of nominated artists can be found on the NME's official website.
