Arctic Monkeys' 'AM' spends second week at No. 1

Arctic Monkeys have successfully fought off stiff competition to retain their place at the top of the UK album chart for a second week.

‘AM’ – the Sheffield quartet's fifth chart-topping LP – managed to fend off Avicii’s ‘True’ from toppling them from the No. 1 spot.

‘True’ is the debut studio album from the Swedish DJ and features collaborations with Aloe Blacc, Nile Rodgers, Adam Lambert and Imagine Dragons’ Adam Reynolds, amongst others.

‘True’ by Avicii has fared well by debuting at No. 2. Other high new entries to this week’s UK album chart come from Sir Elton John with his 31st studio album ‘The Diving Board’ at No. 3 and Manic Street Preachers with ‘Rewind The Film’ at No. 4.

The top five is completed by London Grammar with ‘If You Wait’ down three places to No. 5.

Other new entries come courtesy of Katie Melua who has achieved her sixth top ten album with ‘Ketevan’ at No. 6, Jack Johnson’s ‘From Here To Now To You’ at No. 7, Deaf Havana’s ‘Old Souls’ at No. 9, The Temperance Movement’s debut self-titled album at No. 12, ‘Loud Like Love’ by Placebo just behind at No. 13, ‘Wise Up Ghost’ a collaborative effort by Elvis Costello and The Roots at No. 28 and Diana Vickers’ ‘Music To Make Boys Cry’ at No. 37.
