SoundCloud has revealed their First on Soundcloud 2022 Class which includes Houston lyricist KenTheMan. To celebrate this monumental occasion, the powerhouse rapper premieres her new freestyle track “Uh Oh” exclusively on SoundCloud here: https://soundcloud.com/imkentheman/uh-oh

SoundCloud will invest in the career of KenTheMan along with eight other emerging artists across various genres in the latest iteration of its First on SoundCloud 2022 discovery and acceleration program. Under the multi-phase program, SoundCloud will co-produce original creative projects that mark career “first” milestones for the rising stars, including a first live show performance, music video or partner collaboration. It will also present original docuseries diving into the artists’ individual stories; release exclusive content including artist interviews and behind-the-scenes looks at their “First on SoundCloud” photoshoots; and host a special celebratory event to bring the artists and music listeners together. Since launching First on SoundCloud in 2018, the program (which evolved into a year-long artist program in 2021) has helped propel the careers of several artists who got their start on the platform, including Kehlani, Baby Rose, DJ Cuppy, Che Lingo and Lil Tecca.

KenTheMan is poised for a massive ascent after a successful run in 2021. She inked a label partnership with Asylum Records and released her empowering mixtape What’s My Name featuring production by platinum hitmakers Bankroll Got It, Diego Ave, Bigg Cuz and more. The standout track “Rose Gold Stripper Pole” earned a flashy remix courtesy of rap superstar 2 Chainz who co-signed Ken live on stage during his “Legendz of the Streetz” tour. She capped off the year with an electrifying set at Rolling Loud California. In early 2022, Ken unveiled her two-track bundle Hard On A 304 which draws inspiration from her breakout EP 4 Da 304's. Ken will release her highly anticipated debut album later this year.

About

Houston rapper KenTheMan is building a strong foundation rooted in versatility, vibrancy and vitality. The Texas native, born Kentavia Miller, first affirmed her talents for writing in the third grade, taking home a school prize for poetry. In the years that followed, Miller let her fiery ambition and trust in her path guide her forward, later returning to her love for music to see where it could potentially lead. After adopting her KenTheMan moniker and making a promise to her father she’d go back to school if music didn’t pan out, she went all in on her craft.

While balancing motherhood with finding her footing as a rapper, KenTheMan continued to put in her 10,000 hours, experiencing hard-earned breakout success when her single "He Be Like" went viral in spring 2019. Written in her car in between delivering for DoorDash and Uber, the song enabled her to be able to quit gig work and pursue music full time. As the track garnered millions of streams across platforms and propelled her career to new heights, KenTheMan's bold, sex-positive anthem became the first of many in her burgeoning catalog.

Determined to persevere and continue building momentum despite facing difficulties caused by the covid-19 pandemic, KenTheMan retreated into writing mode, dropping her debut EP in August 2020. Released independently, 4 Da 304's is a powerful offering that swiftly resonated with fans, climbing to No. 9 on the Apple Hip-Hop Charts and generating more than three million streams within its first 24 hours. As KenTheMan continues to hone her distinctive sound, her skills as a multifaceted rapper consistently shine through.

With a lyrical prowess that can compete with the best of 'em, KenTheMan is as much at home delivering raunchy punchlines as she is crafting melodic narratives through engaging storytelling, tactical metaphors and infectious hooks. Proud to have worked her way into the national conversation and become part of a rich lineage of strong-willed women in rap—all on her own terms. In 2021, Ken signed a label partnership with Asylum Records, released her acclaimed EP What’s My Name, collaborated with 2 Chainz and performed at all three Rolling Loud festivals.
