Avenged Sevenfold debut at No.1 on midweek albums chart update

'Beast and the Harlot' rockers Avenged Sevenfold have made a shock appearance at No.1 on the midweek albums chart update today (August 28) with their new record, 'Hail To The King'.

This is the band's sixth studio album and they're set to knock Britain's Got Talent's Richard and Adam from the top spot with their offering ,'The Impossible Dream'. According to the Official Charts Company, this would mark A7X's first UK No.1 album as their last cut, 2010's 'Nightmare', peaked at No.5.

Naughty Boy's 'Hotel Cabana' has debuted at No.2, Ellie Goulding's 'Halcyon' has shot up an impressive 23 places to No.3, and Franz Ferdinand are back with their new record 'Right Thoughts Right Words Right Action' at 5.

Elsewhere in the Top 40, Biffy Clyro's 'Opposites' has climbed 20 places to No.16 after their headlining set at Reading and Leeds Festival over the weekend, Chase & Status are at No.30 with 'No More Idols', and Fall Out Boy's 'Save Rock And Roll' is back in at No.35.
