Avril Lavigne's new video is heavy on product placement

Pop-punk star Avril Lavigne has premiered the full video for her new single, 'What The Hell', and at just over 3 minutes long it manages to pack in a lot of product placement.

This is a new venture for Lavigne, who in the past has always gone for the rebellious teen appeal, but now she seems to have turned to strategically placed goods cleverly disguised in a polished music video package.

'What The Hell' features shots of a Sony Vaio laptop, a Sony Ericsson mobile phone, a Sony television, her very own Forbidden Rose perfume and there is an entire scene devoted to her Abbey Dawn clothing line, a segment which also features a cameo by Avril's mother as the shopkeeper.

Lavigne joins the ranks of the product placement elite such as Lady Gaga who included Coca Cola, Monster Heartbeats earphones and Polaroid in her video for 'Telephone', and Ke$ha who in her new video for 'We R Who We R' has her DJ's looking at a certain website, shows Revolucion Tequila and flashes a black and pink watch.
