Avril Lavigne got her first neck tattoo over the weekend and documented the occasion with a tweet to fans. 

The 'What The Hell' singer took to social networking site on Sunday, March 13 and wrote to her followers:

"I'm getting a fucking neck tattoo"

"I did it"

"Its a...... Safety pin bitches!!!!!"

The tattoo itself is very small and is of a safety pin made to look as though it's piercing through the top of her neck, below her ear. She also added:

"What a great day with my girlfriends..... Hahah. Just being me... Girl time is always necessary. And I got a tattoo. Holy crap hahah"
