Multiple platinum award winner and singer/songwriter with superstar status in her native country, Denmark, Tina Dico releases her new album Where Do You Go To Disappear? on September 10th on her imprint Finest Gramophone. Featuring 12 new songs which range from classic storytelling tunes to effusive up-tempo-tracks, the album was produced in Iceland with long-time musical partner Helgi Jonsson.

Let’s not talk about the product value of music. Let’s forget about sales figures, charts, airplay and awards for a moment. Tina Dico has had plenty of all that since the release of her debut-album Fuel in 2001. Why not talk about the real value of Tina Dico’s music, about beautiful, evocative songs? Tina’s songs are not easily pigeonholed, which may be one of the reasons for their steady growing popularity. She has a beautiful voice, and shows a genuine closeness to her fans. Tina has a wonderful knack of capturing many different emotions in her songs. Her lyrics are moving and real and her flawless voice and songs will sink under your skin.

Born and raised in the Danish city of Aarhus, Tina had spent ten years living in London, practically living out of a suitcase. She found the friction of her restless touring-life and the impressions from being on the road and time spent in London truly inspiring.  Two years ago, she re-located to Copenhagen. The Danish capital should have become her main residence but Tina’s new found love to her former musical accomplice Helgi Jonsson pointed her to his native Iceland. Soon, after their arrival there, the couple went on to build and finish a recording studio in the basement of their new house. “Writing the new album has been very different because I've had silence around me, rather than hectic big city life. I thought it would make me write quiet songs but instead I started writing energetic tunes. There is a lot of bottled up energy in this silence and these huge quiet landscapes“, says Tina.

“The title of the album Where Do You Go To Disappear? Is essentially about the search for the things that make you forget about yourself and lose yourself in the moment with no thought of the future or the past. That's how I feel when I play music. It's so important to have these passions that enable us to give in and live in the moment.”

The 12 tracks on the album glide effortlessly from start to finish. The adventure that is Where Do You Go To Disappear? starts off with synthetic beats over epic sound-structures, which ostensibly are more “Moon Safari” than classic Tina Dico storytelling Folk. As Tina gained a sophisticated and multidimensional view from touring the world repeatedly over the last ten years, it is not surprising that her new album offers more variety, musically and thematically. Where Do You Go To Disappear? enables a new sound to come to the fore, which carries elements of both Tina’s trademark-sounds.  More classic Tina songs such as Tip Of The Iceberg, Point Of No Return, Time Of Our Lives or the warm, welcoming Sunrise with its summer-feel, sound therefore familiar and newly discoverable at the same time. You Wanna Teach Me To Dance is making space for dancing for the first time in a Tina-song, with its exalted beats. Says Tina: “I don’t want to turn away from my perception as performing my songs just with an acoustic guitar. But I wanted to make more space for the music on my new record. Space for the music to be able to breathe more, to extend a little more and for it to discover new paths.” It is exactly that space that makes Where Do You Go To Disappear? a rich, joyful listening experience. It creates more space for discovering the real value of Tina Dico’s music.

The Moon To Let EP features remixes from Tina’s old friends Zero 7 and a wonderfully languid remix by Fink.  The EP is released on July 16th.
