"A twisted pop sensation that lives up to the hype...incredibly good" The Guardian

“Beautifully produced to the point of pin-precision perfection.  A truly stunning collection of songs” – Rich Thane, The Line Of Best Fit

“Bloody lush” RobDaBank

“Recorded during the harsh Nordic winter but the musical equivalent of an  ice cold cocktail” NME

“Throw The Knife, The XX and Regina Spektor into a glorious musical blender and you get the Norwegian trio Philco” -Dance Yrself Clean

'Take It Personal' (3rd Sept) is the debut full length from Norway’s Philco Fiction. Their RnB tinged, symphonic disco has gained them popularity across Europe and the US, through shows with Kwes, Chromatics, Neon Indian and, last week…Snoop Dogg(!)

A remarkable Oslo trio centred round the rich, haunting songs of Turid Solberg (pronounced Tue-rid).  These sophisticated pop tunes hit you straight away in both the heart and the hips with their frank lyrics, giant choruses, crispy beats and effortlessly spare yet lush arrangements.

Epic, broken-hearted piano ballads that recall prime Prince and electropop symphonies that glide through warped electronics, speaker-popping R’n’B spasms, tip-toeing Bjorklike flights of fancy and Motown string flourishes are all on the plate here. They’ve been tipped by NME, Bella Union, Guardian, DrownedinSound, R1, LineOfBestFit, 405 and more.

Songs that now make up the debut elpee 'Take It Personal' have been causing ripples in the blogworld all year and their weird, charismatic and theatrical live show has been seen atEurosonic, SXSW, Hove, two European jaunts, shows with Neon Indian, Chromatics and, um, Snoop Dogg last week; along with three sold out London shows. There is another wave of festival dates including Bestival, AirWaves and Oya coming this autumn.

It’s only after listening to the album on the headphones that you start to notice that Turid’s instant pop songs are very carefully cast on an inspired array of instrumentation and twisty production tics, courtesy of the two gentlemen of Philco Fiction, Andreas and Bjarne.

This record is going to keep you dancing and smiling this summer.
