Bat For Lashes end their tour with sold out gig in L.A.

BAT FOR LASHES ended their US tour with a sold out show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday (June 16).

Taking the stage to loud cheers and screams from the packed house, Natasha Khan looked quietly glamourous in a black sequined leotard. Backed by a three-piece band including multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Hatherley, who was once a member of Ash, they ran through several tracks from their latest album, 'Two Suns', as well as their 2006 debut 'Fur And Gold'.

Kicking off with the new album opener 'Glass', the Brighton singer mesmerised the packed house with her haunting voice and unassuming stage presence.

Khan said very little throughout the evening, pausing only a couple of times to praise the audience. "You are amazing. Thank you for supporting us on this tour," she said.

A few songs into the 75-minute set, the band played what Khan dubbed a "lo-fi version" of her hit single 'Daniel', which she banged out using a keyboard and drum machine. The band employed several unorthodox instruments throughout the evening, including an autoharp, bells and maracas.

"This one's for all my Los Angeles angels who came to see me tonight," Khan said before launching into 'Pearl's Dream'.

After saying goodnight, the band were called back for two encores. They began with a haunting version of 'Prescilla', which Khan performed solo on an autoharp, and concluded with a second, more bombastic rendition of 'Daniel'.
