BBC Radio 6 Music Live At Maida Vale returns for a sixth time in October, bringing a week-long celebration of incredible music performances live to air.

6 Music, which has a weekly audience of 2.24m listeners, making it the UK’s most listened to digital-only radio station, will present listeners and viewers an amazing range of artists from across the musical spectrum - and 6 Music fans have the chance to be there.

Lauren Laverne today announced on air that Morrissey, Mogwai, alt-J, Loyle Carner and Robert Plant will be performing live during her show from Monday 2 - Friday 6 October between 10am - 1pm.

Lauren says: “This year’s line-up is eclectic as ever, including two Mercury Prize 2017 nominees, bringing together a rich mix of artists to represent the exciting range of music found on 6 Music.”

Paul Rodgers, Head of 6 Music says: “6 Music celebrates and champions the alternative spirit of music and culture, uniting cutting-edge music of today and the iconic and ground-breaking sounds of the past 50 years. The station brings a great range of live musical performances to our audience and the quality of this year’s Live At Maida Vale line up speaks for itself.”

Monday - Morrissey

The English singer, songwriter and author makes his live music performance debut on 6 Music, performing both new material from his most recent album and classic tracks. Low in High School will be Morrissey’s first studio album since 2014, and was recorded at La Fabrique Studios in France and in Rome at Ennio Morricone’s Forum Studios. Rising to prominence as frontman of The Smiths, Morrissey went on to forge an even more successful career as a solo artist, with all ten of his solo efforts landing in the Top 10 on the UK album charts, including 3 entries at the #1 position. Releasing his debut solo album Viva Hate back in 1988, he has since released a number of critically acclaimed follow-ups including Kill Uncle and Your Arsenal, and hugely successful comeback album You Are The Quarry after a five year hiatus in 2004.

Tuesday - Mogwai

This performance will mark 20 years since the band recorded their first Maida Vale session for John Peel back in 1996, the first of seven sessions, the last being in 2004. Mogwai will be performing tracks from their latest album Every Country’s Sun, which was exclusively premiered on 6Music’s Recommends show this week, as well as old favourites. The group, who formed in Glasgow in the 1990s, headlined 6 Music Festival at 02 Academy Newcastle in 2015.

The band say: "The Maida Vale studios, and especially recording the sessions for John Peel, have left us with many happy memories. We are looking forward to coming back to the studio to play our new songs for BBC 6 Music."

Wednesday - alt-J

The band first came to the attention of 6 Music when they recorded an early session for Steve Lamacq back in July 2011. Their debut album An Awesome Wave was voted 6 Music’s Album of the Year in 2012, winning the Mercury Prize in the same year. At Maida Vale, they’ll be performing tracks from their Mercury nominated album Relaxer as well as songs from their previous two albums.

The band say: "We are honoured to be part of this incredible series of performances. 6 Music has always been our spiritual home, and getting to spend a day at Maida Vale is something we would never turn down."

Thursday - Loyle Carner

Loyle will performing tracks from his Mercury nominated album Yesterday’s Gone with the House Gospel Choir and special guests. He performed at the 6 Music Festival in Glasgow earlier this year and recently fronted a special 6 Music Recommends Show for the station’s Hip Hop Hooray weekend with an hour of classic hip hop and newer artists who influence his work.

Friday - Robert Plant

Robert Plant and his Sensational Space Shifters will be performing songs from their new album Carry Fire for the first time, alongside some of his classic tracks. This is his 11th album and first full length release since 2014’s acclaimed Lullaby And…The Ceaseless Roar.

Jeff Smith, Head of Music, 6 Music says: “Live music is at the heart of what we do at 6 Music, with over 300 live music sessions a year, and once again we’re bringing together emerging artists alongside musical legends from the alternative music scene, for music fans to watch and listen to.”
