Born and raised in Tuam, County Galway, in the west of Ireland, Bg5ive is an upcoming rapper now based in Toronto, Canada. Since arriving on the scene in 2019, he’s released several singles, an EP and two full mixtapes and has received Spotify editorial support (“Irish Rap & Drill 2022” playlist), helping to establish him as one to watch on the underground rap scene. He has no plans of slowing down anytime soon either and has just returned with his brand-new single, “Open It Up”.

Another impressive entry into the rising rapper’s growing discography, the track hears Bg5ive flex his passionate rap flow and impressive lyrical abilities. The track is accompanied by an equally memorable music video directed by Liger Productions.

Speaking more on the new release, Bg5ive says, “For this track, I was just trying to have a bit of fun with it really. I heard the beat, and I loved it and thought it would be good for a single to introduce me to an audience. I really liked the melody in the beat, and I tried to go for a more melodic flow while still having it be rap, as opposed to singing. You could look at ‘Open It Up’ as just the vibe of how I was feeling on the day I recorded it and kind of a statement of intent for where I'm trying to go with music – have some fun with it but still honest and personal.”

Oozing with star quality throughout both the song and video, it’s clear Bg5ive has an exciting future ahead.
