UK Rapper Roseland En Why Cee Shares Debut Album B-Side SoulOFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY Best New Music South London’s genre-bending rapper, multi-instrumentalist and composer Nathan Jamal, better known as Roseland En Why Cee, has unveiled his highly anticipated debut album, B-Side Soul. A dynamic blend of alternative hip-hop and soul, the album tells a deeply personal story, drawing on dualities that define the artist’s world and music. B-Side Soul features previous 2024 singles “Hands of Men” and “Ways of Seeing”, alongside standout new tracks such as “Past Life”. Speaking about the album, Roseland explains: “B-Side Soul is my first full-length album. It chronicles the inside of my head over the past two years – love, lust, loss, the weight of inherited trauma, otherness and the pressure to conform and the loneliness that comes when you don’t. It’s my attempt to create some sympathetic place for myself and anyone who's felt stuck on the outside.” With a unique sonic palette, the album blends traditional hip-hop elements like programmed drums and vocal samples with live instrumentation, including bass, piano and guitar. Roseland took a hands-on approach to capture the live sound, recording instruments through amps rather than digital shortcuts. This attention to detail reflects the musician’s prior jazz training and love for raw, authentic soundscapes. The album's concept draws inspiration from Johny Pitts' "B-side aesthetic" theory, reflecting the artistic freedom often associated with B-sides on vinyl records. As Roseland explains: “The A-side of a record had to be acceptable to as many people as possible – made to entertain but not to rock the boat. The B-side was where the artist could be themselves and go wherever they want, not worrying about whether the average listener could follow. This is B-side music for B-side people.” B-Side Soul is available to buy/stream now on all platforms: https://
