Polynesian-Croatian-American artist TIHANE has just dropped her brand-new single, “Ain’t That A B!tch” (produced by TIHANE and Segnon), a genre-bending track that blends soulful grooves with future bounce, retro vibes and electronic rhythms. The track is the lead single from her upcoming debut album, The War On Love, set to release in early 2025.

Based in Los Angeles, TIHANE’s multicultural influences, including Pacific Islander and Eastern European roots, weave a rich tapestry into her unique sound. Collaborating with producers from East and West Africa, she creates a soulful fusion that bridges the gap between past and future. “Ain’t That A B!tch” showcases her ability to take listeners on a nostalgic yet forward-thinking musical journey.

The song was born from a raw, emotional moment in the first week of a heart-shattering breakup. Standing on a street corner in Los Angeles, TIHANE belted the song’s melody into her phone, sending it to her co-producer, Segnon. What started as an impromptu a cappella soon turned into a dynamic track layered with vintage samples, deep indigenous drums and funky basslines. Drawing inspiration from soul legends such as Al Green and modern beats from artists like KAYTRANADA, TIHANE and Segnon crafted a track that defies genre, blending soul, R&B and electronic elements seamlessly.

Speaking about the new single, TIHANE shares, “It’s about flipping the script on the old, sad love songs we grew up with.” The track’s smooth grooves and empowering message offer a fresh take on the traditional breakup anthem.

Accompanying the release is a visually stunning music video, directed by TIHANE and Cris Blyth, filmed in the winding canyons of California. The one-take video portrays a woman experiencing a murderous shock as her perception of reality shifts from vintage black and white tones to vibrant, surreal colours, symbolising the song’s transformation from a classic soul ballad to an electronic groove. Choreographer and hair/makeup artist Nadezda Vlasova contributed mesmerising dance movements, while the talented camera crew of Tobin Oldach and Joe Provenzano captured the video's cinematic essence.
