Beyoncé's 'Lemonade' is No.2 on UK chart after iTunes release

Beyoncé's new record has shot to No.2 on the UK albums chart despite only being available on iTunes for a matter of hours.

The singer uploaded 'Lemonade' to the digital platform on Monday (April 25).

The album was originally unveiled on streaming service Tidal at the weekend.

The Official Charts Company confirmed today (April 26) that the record has reached No.2 on the UK albums chart.

Prince's 'The Very Best Of' remains at No.1, with the late musician's 'Ultimate' at No.3.

He features at No.4 with 'Purple Rain', while Adele's '25' has crept back to No.5.

Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot commented: "The huge demand for Prince songs and albums over the past few days serves to underline just what this legendary music icon meant to British music fans.

"Despite a late challenge from Beyoncé with the release of her latest album 'Lemonade', Prince is certain to make a massive impact on the Official Singles and Albums Charts this weekend, particularly impressive given that his music is only available on one streaming service and the albums are in limited supply as CDs and vinyl."
