International superstar Beyoncé has gone back to her Texan roots in a new country-themed photo shoot for Essence magazine. 

The Houston-born 'Run The World (Girls)' singer graces the cover of the July edition and behind-the-scenes footage from the set shows her sporting a cowboy hat, posing while led across hay bales and swinging a lasso. 

She is also seen wearing an array of country appropriate outfits, including a pair of leather chaps, and the magazine features an interview with Beyoncé that is titled, "The year that changed my life".
